Emptiness
They didn't warn her about the loneliness.
They just left.
Without a word.
Now, as she stands there
Staring down the empty hallway,
A glass of wine in one hand,
A tissue in the other,
She struggles to process
How to walk,
To move forward
Down the silent hallway.
No doors opening and slamming.
No TV blaring through the walls.
No screaming.
No murmur of a muffled one-sided conversation.
Just.
Silence.
Closed doors.
And silence.
