I worked a little more on the one from yesterday. Perhaps there is still more to come.
Remnants of granite mountainsides,
excavated for low maintenance counters,
defy erosion
while homes are abandoned
and children are homeless.
Stumps of hemlock forests,
felled for outdated encyclopedias,
sit in wait
while teachers are fired
and ignorance is accepted.
Slivers of wheat fields,
reaped for thrown away cereal,
shudder in silence
while obesity expands
and anorexia is the ideal.
